This week is the Manaiakalani SLJ Teaser week. Today, Hector and I has created a collaborative info graphic google draw about Lorde for our practice summer learning journey activities. This will help us keep motivated until the actual program begins. Although, I was really surprised to find out that Taylor Swift was her best friend and she got offered a record deal at the age of 13.Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-36381346209676671742019-12-04T09:11:00.001+13:002019-12-04T09:11:21.254+13:00Fishing for the future generation
Fishing for the future generation

Do you enjoy the divine taste of fresh fish from the sea? Fish that swim in the depths of the ocean freely and the delicious taste of its natural flavor. Although, the delicious raw fish and coconut cream, fish and chips and even smoked fish can be reduced because of our own actions as plastic waste has spread through the ocean and because we have either been catching undersized fish or fish that are just about to breed.

Plastic waste has been a big concern as it is spreading more in our sea, rivers, lakes and ponds. Because of this fish are mistaking and consuming plastic for food. Currently, plastic has been spreading more and more world wide through our oceans.

Fish that consumes plastic can be deadly. They will not be able to properly consume food and survive. But, not only is plastic a big problem but catching and consuming large fish. Large fish are actually breading at that state of time. When you take home undersized fish you may also get a fine! This is because undersized fish need time to grow up and breed.

Big fish need time to breed so the population of fish can grow and grow for our future generations. So, it is a great idea to gently place the fish back into the water with a wet towel so you can avoid taking off the special coating on their scales.

Teaching this to our future generations will continue to spread on further in life. Our future children will also get to have a chance to have a delicious bite of kai moana!Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-88635355292992192782019-12-04T09:11:00.000+13:002019-12-04T09:11:00.245+13:00Exploring our national current events.
News editors make decisions every day about which current event stories they will run. We explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map.Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-87659594746637204792019-12-04T09:10:00.001+13:002019-12-04T09:10:32.181+13:00Shake-speare / Pop up globe - Globe.

Rita, Rubin two actors from Shake-speares play, visited LS2. We all got the opportunity to learn about the globes. The original, the rebuilt globe and the pop up globe. Also, we learnt about the cultural acts, original and more. One act, they banged pot and spoons to stop rain. This had surprisingly worked out and the audience was amazed. They include mixed genders, mixed clothes and rhymes in plays. Another fun fact is a tragedy ends in a death. But a comedy ends in a marriage at the end. Did you know, a rehearsal takes at least 6 weeks? Although, a great big thank you to Rita and Rubin! LS2 was able to grow our knowledge about shake-speares plays.Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-6432140387535686532019-12-04T09:08:00.002+13:002019-12-04T09:08:29.226+13:00Summarising the Main Ideas
He is a author and sports commentator. His newest book based off of "Men in Black" as his new book is called "Brothers in Black." Before arriving Jamie made a movie for us to watch and it was all about his job. A little bit of past history about him that he told us. When he was young his friends father gave him the book "Men in Black" and he started reading more about the All Blacks.Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-52940309310064514102019-12-04T08:59:00.000+13:002019-12-04T08:59:47.075+13:00Food print

Yesterday the owner of Food Print (Michal) visited Panmure Bridge School to teach LS1 and LS2 about her site and the story behind it. Food Print is located in New Zealand, Auckland. It has been in business for 6 months and Michal has worked on the app for 2 years. The idea for food print is to make it easier for people to buy food nearby and to reduce wastage of food.

Today LS2 has completed a tessellation pattern piece using a variety of colours for maths. My pattern goes diagonal from every side. Our goal was to fill in most of the space by making a pattern with different shapes. The shape I used was a cross. I found this activity fun but also a little bit challenging. On the way I found a few errors while filling in the white spaces.Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-73236216281829420632019-11-20T13:40:00.000+13:002019-11-20T13:42:55.461+13:00Personification writing piece.
Small pieces of rocks, grass and stones stuck in me isn’t such a pleasant feeling. The pain being inflicted on my body hurts badly. Stepping on poop smells DISGUSTING and UNCOMFORTABLE!!! At this point I couldn’t bare to breathe with the unbearable scents surrounding me. Falling into a nasty, smelly, puddle made me soaked and smelly!! I’m starting to think that my only source of food is the stale bubblegum stuck to the floor with each step my owner took on them. Gross… Does my owner even have eyes? Each step my owner took was on one of the most disgusting parts on the ground (puddles, poop, bubble gum and rocks). I’m yearning for the day when I get brought back to the shoe store...

Written by | Nyjah and Chavda

Personification is non living objects that has human qualities or abilities. We associated our story with shoes because we use them everyday. Although, the twist was we sat back to back and we couldn't speak while we wrote. Chavda and I had no problem writing this writing piece together as most of our ideas were similar and if they weren't we simply just changed some of our sentences to fit our liking. We used the 5 senses in our writing piece.

For the past 2 weeks LS2 has read amazing horrible history books and created a presentation and kahoot. This was a very fun project to work on. I read the most horrible people in history. My main focus was on Gavrilo Princip. I found many facts about him and his past which was very interesting. I managed to create a presentation and kahoot for everyone. A very fun fact I learnt about Gavrilo Princip was that he shot Austrian Archduke Franz and everyone associated the death of Austrian with his people. Basically, people instead insisted that Gavrilo shot "20 million people." (Although, Gavrilo did not.) Today LS2 participated in another fun lesson of Tennis with Peter. The new skill we learnt was "Volley." Volley is having a iron grasp on the racket and having a short but swift movement with your wrist that hits the ball over. My partner and I was able to volley the ball back to each other after a few minutes of adjusting to the technique and practice. Although, I have created a google draw that compares my movements to a very famous tennis player Serena Williams.Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-69335349797178796012019-11-07T14:21:00.000+13:002019-11-07T14:21:06.331+13:00Financial Literacy - Game

Today Florence, Haylee and I have played a very fun and interesting game that is about profit, discounts, selling and balance. The game is called "Market Day." Each person rolled two dice 15 times and landed on two different spaces. Either a sale (you can sell one item which is depended on the second dice) or market option which is selling more items for a discount or giving one free. Our goal was to make a profit and not go overdraft. The items we could sell were 3 juggling per set for 12$ (10 sets of juggling balls so 30 balls in total), 10 Hacky sacks which were 5$ each and 10 Bungy balls which were 8$ each. In the end we all had to take out 70$ from our profit as that was the amount for our stall.
Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-18860133625330771592019-11-06T09:03:00.001+13:002019-11-06T09:15:48.255+13:00Firework Safety.
Today for woodwork in tech some of the year 8s are starting to sand down their projects while others create the joints. I only need one joint cut out and then I will only need a few pieces added to my design. Although, next week I will be moving onto sanding down my wood so that it's smooth.

Although, people around the world can be judgmental towards others with disorders. In my opinion this is unfair and actually offends people. This can deepen or worsen anxiety. But in my opinion, we should show empathy and respect to those with disorders.

It is okay to have your own opinion about disorders but criticizing people about it may hurt them. Even if you target only one disorder it still affects a community of people who have it.

A few examples of disorders conclude of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and Anxiety (Separation Anxiety, Social anxiety, Sleep Anxiety). Different disorders all do different things to a person and we should try accepting them for who they are.

Disorders have a big impact on people and sometimes it can even be hard to deal with. Accepting, respecting and understanding them can help them even if it’s just a little bit it still helps them through their certain disorders.

During Term 3 LS2 created water filters! Our goal was to filter out very dirty water using materials around the school and provided ones. My group first set off to walk around the school to find the things we needed. Although, we only had a limited amount of time outside to find our items and build our filters. Every group used a 1.5 l bottle to use as the main base of our water filters. The items provided was charcoal, coffee filters, cloth and rubber bands. In the end during our test we found out that the sand we had wasn't very fine so the sand just absorbed most the water so not very much filtered out.Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-52926670434784911312019-09-11T12:19:00.001+12:002019-09-11T12:19:35.126+12:00Let me tell you about my favourite cultural celebration.
Let me tell you about my favourite cultural celebration.

Let me tell you about Christmas. Christmas, is one of my favourite celebrations in the world! A few days before Christmas, my family and I go on a shopping spree for presents, clothes and food. Usually, each year my parents take my siblings and I individually out on different days to go shopping for each others presents. I enjoy buying my brothers and family members gifts! The excitement I see from them makes me ecstatic. Before going shopping I take secret notes on what my brothers will really like. Currently this year I know that my oldest brother Jericho, enjoys playing games, talking to his friends through devices (such as the Playstation and his Ipad) and food. My youngest brother, Sasuke, enjoys playing on the playstation, making short vlogs on his phone and playing sports. During time between the 20th - 25th of December I prepare a list of gifts I should buy for my brothers.

Last year, I remember waking up super early with a large smile across my face. I threw the covers off and dashed towards… The kitchen! I see my Grandmother up and early cooking a delicious meal! Ham with a beautiful sauce over it with rings of pineapple, cherry and a crispy layer of skin on the outside. On the other side of the table I see four large cakes with a lovely layer of frosting over the top. But the best part is when the rest of my family comes over… We all sit down in the main room, open presents, have a laugh, eat delicious food and enjoy the company and love of our family~

Today I have created a 5 / 7 / 10 about my favourite cultural celebration. Christmas! Although, to break down what 5 / 7 / 10 means is I had 5 minutes to write and after that 5 minutes I had to check my writing with a partner (or multiple people) for 7 minutes and finally, 10 minutes of finishing my writing off. In my writing piece, our main focus was looking and placing commas in correctly.

L.I: Exploring international current events.

This week for Reading we used Google Maps and looked international news that follow either of these reasons; Timeliness, Relevance, Magnitude, Unexpected, Impact, Reference, Oddity, Conflict, Negative, Continuity, Emotions, and Progress. Working in small groups, we located where the event took place and pinned them on the collaborative map. Using sites such as Kiwikids News and NZ Herald. Last week we looked at national news meaning stuff only happening in New Zealand. Now we are exploring things that are happening all around the world, international. We found some very interesting world archives, such as the fire in the Amazon Rain-forest.

Currently, I have created a provocation and opinion DLO about a major supermarket chain that is currently no longer selling energy drinks in their supermarkets to kids under the age of 16. My opinion and two perspectives to this is included in the DLO I have created above. I think that they made a good idea to ban these energy drinks as it could affect a child's health.Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-30305540327297270182019-09-04T11:00:00.000+12:002019-09-04T11:00:19.550+12:00Explanation: Should NZ ban plastic straws?

Greetings all. Do you enjoy using divine, mess free plastic straws? Well… A single drinking straw is actually affecting our environments in New Zealand. Each day nearly 500 million plastic straws are being used. A quarter of this amount is from New Zealand as 65,000 straws have been found on our beaches. Plastic straws pollute our oceans, land and air. But the problem gets even worse when they break down into small particles which releases their chemicals everywhere.

Did you know that plastic straws are actually one of the main reasons why the digestive systems of many marine animals are damaged? That the air slowly gets more polluted each day when these straws break down into many chemicals? All these problems can and are still being caused by plastic straws. Most plastic straws don’t biodegrade in the ocean and they are being consumed by poor animals that live in the sea or on land! This is just cruel and absolutely disgusting to the many animals that are living their lives with plastic straws in their bodies and slowly killing them, all because of us. Although, not only is this affecting innocent creatures lives but also the land we live on and the air we breathe.

Imagine the amount of pollution that is spreading around New Zealand, imagine the pain poor creatures endure nearly each day and imagine how you would feel if a single plastic straw corrupts your digestive system. This is because of our actions. Even if we only use just one a day it still increases the amount of plastic straws that are harming the earth.

Currently, companies such as fast food restaurants around New Zealand are banning plastic straws to eliminate the amount of straws we use each day. Sure it may be a bit more mess free and enjoyable to use but the amount of harm it does is insane. Also, people around New Zealand are helping by using metal straws. They can be reused over and over again and they can be put away until your next drink.

Plastic straws are affecting New Zealand and I say we should put a stop to this. If we stop using plastic straws the number of them harming the earth will decrease and save our environment from bigger trouble. You could save the life of a single creature right now by not using plastic straws. So give it a try for the sake of New Zealand!

Why people should have more screen time?

Greetings all, my name is Nyjah. We can all agree that mainly everyone has a passionate liking for screen time. Right? Well! Some people believe that screen time is bad for development but I disagree. Today, I will be possibly changing your mind about that as many people around the world has succeeded online.

Recently the last fortnite championship tournament took place on Sunday at the National Tennis Centre in New York. 16 year old Kyle Giersdorf (Bugha) won the solo competition against 99 other players! He earned 3 million dollars and many admires the skills he has. This all connects to the internet (online).

People around the world can express their talent through the internet such as entertainment, beauty, art, gaming, cooking and more. People on the internet that we know of today started small and grew in population due to their skills that is being shared online. Many groups of people at any age can be inspired to try something new because of the internet.

Large amounts of communities online help and support different kinds of real life events such as the LGBTQ community, art community, cultural communities and much more which is free and here to anyone around the world.

So much has been expressed and shared throughout the internet and this is why I think screen time helps people teach others, share skills and much more!

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "arial" , "tahoma" , "helvetica" , "freesans" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "tahoma" , "helvetica" , "freesans" , sans-serif;">This week students in Panmure Bridge School presented individual speeches to their classes so other students and teachers could vote on who would move on to the school competition in the hall. On Tuesday Mele, Jack and Marieta had the most votes and moved on to the school competition. Mele placed first, Jack second and Marieta third. Although, my speech was about why people should get more screen time. Lots of people around the world has succeeded online, started careers and earned money just by being on the internet.

If you did not know the Dawn Raids were evacuation protocols which involved the police going to Polynesian homes and forcing them to show their passports that stated whether they were allowed to live in the country. If demands were not met, they were locked up and later kicked out of the country. Our challenge was to read the text and answer questions. With this new found knowledge we needed to create a DLO that showed both perspectives of the issue.

Today for HIIT LS2 worked on building our strength. Three stations were set around the hall for us. Although we all got into partners and completed these challenges together. Victoria (my partner) and I first started with press ups. We took turns at doing different types of push ups like army push ups or spreading our legs when doing a press up so it is a little bit more easy for us. Our next rotation was Mountain Climbers. I found this activity the most challenging as my upper body and legs were getting tired very quickly. Our last rotation was lifting ourselves up just below the bar. My partner had to hold both sides of the pole just to make sure it was stable. When pushing myself up I felt fine but when pushing down I felt very tired. Our final challenge of HIIT was a remake of the beep test. We all did a squat challenge to the song "bring sally up."Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-82665738203903807632019-07-04T12:12:00.001+12:002019-07-04T12:12:26.024+12:00Maths Game - Mixed Decimals
During week 9 and 10 I have created a mixed decimals game. I have 5 questions in total and one out of four answers are correct. If you get a question incorrect you can always try again or click on the "help link." If you get the answer correct you move onto the next level. Each level is mixed so not every question is hard or easy. Although, each question does involve decimals and addition. When designing my presentation (game) I decided to have a flower / nature like theme. I made the flowers on the correct slide green and red for the incorrect slide. Each question involves thinking and strategies like place value. Think, Choose wisely an good luck!Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1374515118444688826.post-454483395244774832019-06-25T14:37:00.000+12:002019-06-25T14:45:27.290+12:00Rhythm Interative's visit to PBS

Today Panmure Bridge got the amazing opportunity to have a drumming experience with our drumming teacher (visitor) John Boone featuring Wilson! LS2 was able to help the junior kids by helping with the beat of the drums and paying attention. John Boone did not only teach us a lot of drumming skills but there was a reason (theme) behind it. The theme was: Together we can make a change. Everyone listened carefully to the beat, rhythm and pattern on the drums. We all enjoyed the lesson as we had fun interacting with the drums! Another message he included was "If you can say it you can drum it." The drums we used were African drums which are called Djembe. Did you know Djembe actually translates to "brings joy"? Although, everyone had a fun time and a big thank you for John Boone for teaching us a lot of amazing drumming skills and together we can all make a change!Nyjahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16450956266398381523noreply@blogger.com0
