Summer learning journey : week 1 day 1

Summer learning journey  : week 1 / activity 1

3 Fun Facts about New Zealand I found interesting!

There are no snakes native in New Zealand which surprised me a lot since I really thought that snakes are native to bits of New Zealand.

30% percent of the country is forest which I found interesting because for me I thought New Zealand was a really wild life country home to many animals.

I never knew that the largest city in New Zealand is actually Auckland and not the capital city Wellington.

  1. Kia orana Nyjah and welcome back to the Summer Learning Journey programme. We are so excited to see that you have joined us this year!

You have been really busy posting activities over the past week. Wow! This is amazing!

I hope that you are enjoying the programme and sharing your learning with us online. I really enjoyed reading this first activity as I did not realise that 30% of the country was made up of forest until I started creating this programme. It is a pretty stunning statistic, I think, as 30% is a huge amount of the country. I feel very lucky to live in a place that has so much green space, so many parks and so many forests. I love going for walks in the bush with my son, Aronui. Do you ever go for walks in the forest with your family?

Speaking of your family,I hope that you have a wonderful holiday time together. Do you have any special plans? I am hoping to get to the beach today with my family for a short swim. The sun was finally come out and it looks like a beautiful day for a dip in the water!

I hope that you have a lovely day as well. I'll look forward to seeing you back online soon for some more great learning with the SLJ.

    Bye for now!

    Rachel :)
